"You couldn't dream up finer country to hunt than what we found at Silvertine. This Estate was Steve Rahns vision, built with integrity and  hard work by his own two hands. Now, it's a haunt for MASSIVE Bucks and Bulls, welcome to your hunt of a lifetime!"
                                                                - Client Quote from Guest Book.
Dear Guest,
Hello my name is Steve Rahn,
I am the owner & outfitter here at The Badly Scattered Buffalo Co.. I would personally like to thank you for visiting my web-site! If you can spare a few minutes to read just this one page on my website, it will be worth your while if you are considering us for your next hunting adventure.

MISSION STATEMENT:
We are not your average hunt ranch, we are all about YOU our guests and providing YOU with exceptional trophy quality game and personalized service. I am a hands on outfitter, because I like the people, nature, animals, and hunting. All my hunts are fully guided by myself, or the few guides I have are like family, so you can be assured your in good hands. The Badly Scattered Buffalo Co.was started in 1994, and in 2000 I started Silvertine have been in business for 26 years, and I have made my career as a big game hunting guide and rancher since 1988.

Everything I do revolves around respect for the animals and nature. It's more than just filling a tag, it's camaraderie, sunrises, sunsets and everything in between, and that amazing feeling of being so close to a living animal. This ranch is build on the foundation of FAIR CHASE hunting principals. Some days the animals win, some days we do, and when it's our day, we owe it to the animal to make a good clean ethical kill. I feel very fortunate to offer my ranch to a small handful of hunters each year. Special moments happen each year on this ranch, and will be ingrained into your memory for a lifetime, actually more than special - it's dreams come true.

SERVICES:
I understand that customer satisfaction is the key to success. I take a minimal amount of hunters each year, just myself and one other guide, with around 2-6 hunters in camp at six at any one time. I try to give each hunter or group of hunter’s, exclusive use of the estates, with loads of ‘elbow room’.

All my hunts are fully guided, unlike many other hunt ranches. We guide because we love to, and want you to have optimum safety and trophy selection. My main goal is to provide a quality hunt experience, with a top of the line big game trophies for each hunter. My secondary goal is to offer you a modern, comfortable, yet rustic log-cabin lodge and private cabins, with all the amenities and a relaxed “homey” atmosphere, located inside the hunting areas. I specialize in personal attention to each hunter, giving you, our guest, a great hunting experience and a feeling that you received more than your money’s worth.

My preserve is the largest 100% forested licensed hunt preserve in Canada at just over 800 acres. Sure some guys advertise larger, but they are either stretching the truth, or have large blocks of open farm ground. We can hunt every square inch of our preserve, and as you know, game find security in the bush, that's where they want to live!  The wide diversity of mature timber, brush, springs, rolling hills, lakes, and creeks provides a very challenging hunt, and a spectacular setting.

THE HUNTING GAME:
My Elk, Deer, Bison, and Exotics are free roaming on my
Preserves. You will experience a REAL HUNT with a 100% GUARANTEED OPPORTUNITY! Plus, every trophy Bison Bull will be eligible for the SCI record books.
Our ranch is located in a CWD free area of Canada, and my herd is disease free and 100% natural and organic, one of the safest herds in the nation.
You will experience a hunt "exactly" like nature intended. Herds of rare European and White bison moving threw the forest in front of you, or sit watching a bachelor group of old giant herd bulls feeding along the lake shore.

IN CONCLUSION:
Your experience will be a hunt, and not merely a shoot.  Silvertine holds many World records and numerous top ten animals! Silvertines rifle hunters have a 100% kill-to-date record.

I continually updated my web-site as often as I can, and I believe you will find it dynamic and full of helpful information about what we offer.  It is loaded with great photos and videos of my guests and their trophies!  I encourage and welcome you to reach out and contact me anytime, please don't hesitate.

A warm welcome awaits you at Silvertine

Best Regards,
Steve Rahn

Silvertines Big Game Hunting Guides

Steve Rahn

I was born and raised in British Columbia's Okanagan Valley. Raised on a Cattle Ranch and growing up in a family full of big game hunters it gave me a deep appreciate and passion for the outdoors and love of animals. To this day I strive to continue a proud family ranching tradition dating back three generations. My Hunting passion started from a young age, I cannot remember that far back when the first time I expressed an interest to go hunting, but I do vaguely recall asking my father to take me along on his annual moose hunts, and him saying something about needing to be potty trained first?

Always having a deep passion for the outdoors, horses, and hunting, once I finished a short term in University (and was fully potty trained) I ventured to the Yukon, were I guided Big game hunters on Horseback Hunting trips for Stone and Dall sheep for over 15 years. During the off season I would work as a cowboy on large cattle ranches in BC and Alberta during the off season. I purchased a raw chunk of land in the Fort St. John area of BC around 1994, and  started raising and boarding horses and Bison! It was in 1994 that I started offering "ranch hunts" for Bison and started "THE BADLY SCATTERED BUFFALO COMPANY" that grew (still to this day) to be Canada's largest and only bison hunting ranch offering all species of bison and several color phases as well. I now joined the ranks of being self employed. I decided to buy into my first free range hunting/guiding business with a partner in 1999. That "partnership" lasted two years before dissolving and I moved on. It was right around this time that I sold my Fort St. John home and moved to Clinton and started my Ranch in 2001 and my second guiding business "Buckskin Outfitting" materialized. I continued guiding international hunters ranching and rearing horses and bison on a smaller scale, and decided to sell Buckskin Outfitting in 2006, as i had started "Silvertine Wildlife Co." around 2000, and incorporated my bison hunts into this company, and it was growing leaps and bounds. I could only successfully operate one business, so I sold my Free Ranch guiding concession. As of 2025 I have been guiding hunters for 37 years, and know, I am one of those fortunate outfitters that has never forgot why I got into this profession in the first place...because I love the outdoors, hunting, and sharing hunting experiences with others. Being personally involved in every hunters hunt is of utmost importance to me.

Odus Rahn (aka: Odi, or Odi-doe-dee, Odi-dog, or Bone Hunter) Born July 3, 2016

You know you are a small personalized operation when the Outfitters dog is a member of the team. Well ask any Silvertine client and they will say "Heck Ya" Odus is as instrumental as Steve in the smooth operation of Silvertine. Odus has many talents, but the biggest one is his nose. track an elk or looking for sheds, Odus has it mastered! He is a true Lab, and a team player, always willing to pitch in when their is skinning (or cooking) chores to be done. Odus also likes to have his own chair in the tree house and help watch for game, and he was on his first elk kill at 5 weeks of age, and now has amazed  hundreds of big game kills and growing. Odus loves his job and is one cool dude!

Yeti (AKA: Spaghetti, Yeti-O) Born December 1, 2018

Well, team Rahn has grew buy one more in 2019. Now when you hunt with Steve and Odus, you get a third guide and tracker . . .Yeti.  Yeti is one lovable fellow, and has not met a guest he does not love. Unique thing about Yeti is he is blind, yes that right he can't see. But that does not stop his love of big game hunting and spending the day with us in the outdoors. He will always be found on our six. Yeti's skills as a tracker have improved a lot since he relies on his nose more tan the average dog. So between him and Odus, wounded game don't stand a chance, we have the dream team of trackers here at Silvertine.
