Importing your Firearm

It is easy to bring a firearm into Canada … if you follow the rules.

When you arrive at the border you will declare your firearm. When you book your hunt with us, I will provide you with a "Non-Resident Firearms Import Form", fill this out ahead of time and sign it in front of the Customs Agent. You may bring up to three allowed guns across the border on one form and pay a $20.00 fee in Canadian dollars.  Truthfully answer all questions they ask, and when they are satisfied that you have a valid reason for importing the firearm, they may verify that the firearm you have with you matches the one described in the documents. The biggest problem Americans have is forgetting about a handgun they have with them.  People from many states, which allow concealed weapons, get snagged quite often.  If you fail to declare this weapon it will be destroyed, you will pay a fine, and jail time is a real possibility- you will NOT be able to turn around and mail it home or put it in storage!  Don’t make this mistake.  CHECK YOUR GLOVE BOX GUYS! Canada also does not allow fully automatic firearms or firearms with suppressors or silencers on them. Only good ol' Sporting Rifles and Shotguns.

Crossbows and Archery equipment are not considered a firearm and do not require any permits.

Below is the actual form you need to fill out to bring your firearms into Canada. Please fill out the form ahead of time before reaching Canada Customs, but do not sign the bottom. You will need to sign the form in the presents of a Canadian Customs Officer.

Here is the Link to the RCMP site with the form as well. You might need to have 8.5X14 paper in your printer to print this form, but try it with regular paper first, sometimes your computer automatically shrinks it! The LINK is:
