How to build a cabin like the ones you will be using at Silvertine!

Picture
Start off with a sold foundation set on cement blocks or rail road ties.
Picture
Keep going up with the walls. The walls are spiked together with 10" Ardox (spiral nails) about every few feet.
Picture
Use 2x6 for rafters and start placing them every 2 feet. Spike them down with the 10" nails right threw.
Picture
Use 3/4 inch plywood or OSB wafer board for the roof material.
Picture
Next employ a darn good helper, very important!
Picture
Once a window is placed pencil line out the size and trim it out.

Nail down asphalt singles.
Picture
Have your helper router the edges of all the square timbers, and start to lay them around the floor. Know where your door is going to go.
Picture
Do the same for the door.

Picture
Stuff the inside of the roof with 6" insulation and vapour barrier. Allow the cabin to dry completely as we use green logs and then chink the grove you routered. Install your windows and door. Treat with a clear wood preservative that protects the wood from turning grey with time.
Picture
Pay attention to where the windows will be placed as you proceed.
Picture
I determine where my peak is going to be and with string I know how long my wall timbers need to be to allow the rafters to cover them.
Picture
Fill in between the rafters with chunks of 2x6 to stop the squirrel and other critters from living in the insulation.
